Suggestions For Celebrating Matariki

Like Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil, New Zealand has never resolved the fundamental conflict at the heart of our culture. This refers to the fact that we have imported a Northern Hemisphere culture, with its calendar and its seasonal holidays, into the Southern Hemisphere. This has led to some glaring contradictions.

When Christians invaded Europe and destroyed the native European religious traditions, part of their strategy was to impose their culture over the top of those existing traditions. To this end, they took the existing Northern European festival of Yule and replaced it with Christmas.

The celebration of Yule in the Nordic calendar occurred because at that time, three days after the Winter Solstice, it was possible to notice the celestial procession changing direction. Some stars that had appeared to “die” by falling below the horizon now rose again. The days started to become significantly lighter. It was if the gods had chosen to turn their favour upon the people once more.

In Elementalist terms, it means that the society started going up the right-hand side of the Quadrijitu. Yule marks the transition from the Undergoing Will to the Overcoming Will.

Naturally, such an occasion called for great joy. Everyone still alive had survived the darkest part of the winter. They could all look forward to more and more sunlight, every day (for the near future, at least). As a new year was underway, it made sense to take time to make up for old grudges and to renew friendships by gathering in merriment.

This is why Northern Europeans gifted presents at that time, celebrated the return of the light and made up with people in their community. It was one of the most joyous and anticipated events in the calendar. Luciferian scholar Debbie Cartwright believes that a festival at this time has been celebrated since the Neolithic period.

During the Age of Colonisation, settlers from Europe brought their calendar to all their colonies. This worked out fine in America and Canada, where the seasons are similar. But in the colonies of the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are the opposite to Europe. So December 25th in South Africa, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand etc. fell in the middle of Summer.

There’s nothing necessarily wrong with celebrating the Summer Solstice with beaches, beers, BBQs, cricket and touch rugby and calling it Christmas, but it does mean that there is a big Yule-sized gap in the calendar around the Winter Solstice.

Because none of the Southern Hemisphere countries celebrate the Winter Solstice (for the same reason that none of the Northern Hemisphere countries celebrate the Summer Solstice), there is an empty space where no festivities take place. Matariki, a holiday recently introduced by the Government, fills that gap nicely.

Matariki is otherwise known as the Maori New Year, but in reality it’s the Southern Hemisphere New Year, as it heralds the beginning of a new solar cycle for all of the countries South of the Equator. As such, three days after the Winter Solstice marks the day of the Yule celebrations. In New Zealand this year, three days after the Winter Solstice is 24th June – the same day as Matariki.

The suggestion of this essay, therefore, is that Kiwis ought to treat Matariki as another Yule, except Yule similar to how it is celebrated in the Northern Hemisphere.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice heralds the coming of the light, and so the people celebrate it with lights. Their homes and neighbourhoods are decorated with lights, representing the Unconquered Sun’s victory over the forces of darkness. They also give each other gifts, whether those others are family, friends, neighbours or workmates, and apologise for past misunderstandings.

In Scandinavia people drink a lot of mulled wine for Yule. This may or may not catch on in New Zealand. What would surely catch on is smoking cannabis for Matariki. Cannabis has already become an established feature of festivities for both Maoris and white Kiwis. A day or evening when we came together to give gifts, smoke weed and celebrate the return of the light would be amazing (I personally will be celebrating Matariki by taking some LSD with my community).

Above all, Kiwis should be aware that, whatever our calendar says, this is the beginning of the life cycle of the solar year. The Sun will get stronger and stronger in the Southern Hemisphere for the next six months, as living creatures do in the first half of their lives. Then, after the Summer Solstice, the Sun will get weaker and weaker for the next six months, as living creatures do in the final half of their lives.

We should therefore celebrate Matariki as we would an auspicious birth.

VJMP Anzac Day Address 2022: A Foundation Myth for the Anzac Nation

With the news that America intends to respond to China’s move towards militarising the Solomon Islands, it seems apparent that Northern Australia will now become a militarised zone. If China does establish a base there, America will inevitably establish one to counter it in Far North Queensland. The Anzac nation seems to be preparing itself physically for war.

The Anzac nation also needs to prepare itself metaphysically for war. This must involve reflection upon why divine forces would have called us into existence in the first place.

In the opinion of this author, the Fall of Singapore could serve as a kind of origin myth for the Anzac nation. This was the closest we ever came to destruction at the hands of a hostile outside force. But thanks to the exceptional bravery and warfighting skills of our ancestors, and assistance from some close friends, we overcame that challenge.

That the Fall of Singapore was followed by Japanese defeats, at the Battle of the Coral Sea and at the Battle of Milne Bay, can be attributed to divine favour protecting the nascent Anzac nation. The foundational myth of the Anzac nation holds that this divine favour is still with us, and will guide us safely through the 21st Century and beyond.

An element of our national myth ought to be that we are inherently more likeable than our enemies, and as such have a moral right to triumph. This is because we are originally good, honest men and women who stood up to corrupt power structures and were exiled for it. This shared history is the basis of our national moral imperative of a “fair go”.

If there is to be war in or around Northern Australia, we will need to make sure to win the propaganda war at the same time. Winning this soft war will heavily influence the extent to which we are to gather support for the hard war. So we need to establish in the minds of the world that we are more likable than other nationalities.

For the most part, this will not be too difficult, because many people have had experience with Anzac travellers, and most of those experiences have been positive. For every drunken bogan we send overseas we send several cultured and educated people. So those of us who cannot contribute to the hard war can still contribute to the soft war.

The foremost work in this soft war ought to be spiritual. The most heavily-armed and most well-liked force can still lose if they don’t have spiritual wealth. Manifesting this wealth into the material world is the true work of the Anzac nation in the 21st Century.

The Anzac nation should hold, as part of our foundation myth, that we are destined the lead the rest of Planet Earth into a spiritual Golden Age. We are uniquely suited for this role owing to the fact that psilocybin mushrooms grow plentifully here, including the world’s most potent version, the psilocybe subaeruginosa.

That the world’s most powerful subspecies of arguably the world’s most powerful spiritual sacrament is endemic to the Anzac islands can only mean one thing: that divinity itself has chosen us for spiritual leadership in this new age of the world.

Australia and New Zealand already have some of the world’s most psychedelic-friendly populations. Apart from the West Coast of North America, there are few places with the widespread experience of using psychedelic sacraments that Aussies and Kiwis have. Psychedelic sacrament use is an established element of our festival culture, and any Anzac who has ever truly wanted a psychedelic experience has been able to have one.

Fittingly, Australia is the location of the world’s first psilocybin mushroom trial. Subconciously, it may be that many Anzacs understand the role of magic mushrooms in the future spiritual health of this nation. Let it be said that our role is to bring a new understanding of the perennial spiritual philosophy to the entire world.

Supporting this sentiment is the fact that Aussies are the 18th and Kiwis the 15th heaviest users (out of 164) of that other common spiritual sacrament of the Indo-European people: cannabis. We Anzacs love our spiritual sacraments, which is why we are able to produce genius-tier animated film like Choomer Island 2, one of the greatest explications of spiritual truth produced this century.

Let us let it be said that God spared the Anzac nation during World War II because God wished for us to play a role in promulgating God’s Will in the next Great Age of the Earth. In return for this favour, the Anzac nation is tasked with spreading true knowledge about spirituality and how certain natural sacramental substances can be used to reconnect with the divine.

A foundation myth that explained how we Anzacs have divine favour in all of the past, present and future is something that needs to be added to the national consciousness.

New Conservatives Forced Into Humiliating Climbdown On Cannabis Policy

The New Conservative Party recently changed their drug policy to remove the reference to increasing the legal penalties for cannabis use. This climbdown went unannounced, and was not noticed by other media concerns. But VJM Publishing noticed it, as we have been criticising the old New Conservative drug policy for years.

As captured in this screenshot from the Wayback Machine, the New Conservative drug policy used to state they wanted to increase penalties for cannabis use. This was consistent with the principles of the Christianity practiced by the New Conservatives, which seeks to destroy all genuine spiritual practice, leaving the Christian cult the sole purveyor of spiritual goods. Cannabis, which has been used as a spiritual sacrament by Indo-European people for thousands of years, is seen as evil by Abrahamists.

The problem is that such a policy is inconsistent with the principles of freedom, and New Conservatives have always presented themselves as a freedom party. Much of Elliot Ikilei’s campaign material from the 2020 General Election prominently featured the word “FREEDOM”, and freedom from the tyrannical Sixth Labour Government was one of the main selling points of the New Conservative movement.

However, claiming to stand for freedom at the same time as standing for the oppression of cannabis users is a blatant contradiction. VJM Publishing has been resolute in pointing out this contradiction. Every time someone preached to us the imperative of voting New Conservatives for the sake of freedom, we pointed out that the New Conservatives themselves opposed freedom for cannabis users.

Christians ripped into us for this stance. “Who cares about cannabis users?” they cried. Cannabis users are degenerates, their filthy habit should not be tolerated. Cannabis use causes violence and crime, they bleated (unlike our holy scripture that says followers of other religions should be killed). Only the freedoms that we want are actual freedoms – anyone wanting other freedoms can get stuffed.

But what goes around, comes around.

So when former New Conservative leader Leighton Baker was arrested in Wellington, he didn’t get much sympathy from these quarters. I couldn’t refrain from remarking that the Police did to Baker exactly what Baker wanted done to cannabis users. As such, it was fitting that he got a taste of his own medicine. This opinion proved immensely unpopular in some quarters (I was banned from several TeleGram groups for uttering it), but I stand by it.

All laws are enforced by Police violence. Every single one. If a person performs an action which is morally right, but which is legally wrong, a Police officer might arrest that person. If that person should resist the arrest on the grounds that their action was morally right, the Police officer will physically smash that person into submission in order to make the arrest possible.

Therefore, those who support cannabis prohibition also support violence done towards cannabis users by the law enforcement authorities. Although many supporters of cannabis prohibition deny this, it’s a fact made evident by simple logic. This is why cannabis users have understandable cause to resent those who support cannabis prohibition. It’s a similar level of brain-dead prejudice to wanting someone locked up for having sex with another consenting adult.

VJM Publishing made all of these arguments in the wake of Baker’s arrest. It seems that the irrationality of New Conservatives’ drug policy became apparent to them at some point shortly after, because they updated it to remove the policy of increasing penalties for cannabis use.

The basic inhumanity of cannabis prohibition is now evident to even the most morally depraved section of society, the Christian conservative. It’s surely just a matter of time before the law is significantly changed.

The Therapeutic Value Of Psychedelics Is In Their Value As Spiritual Sacraments

The pharmaceutical machine is turning its attention to psychedelics. Having finally milked dry the antipsychotic and antidepressant market, Big Pharma has sniffed out new profit potential in using psychedelics to alleviate mental illnesses. This new paradigm brings the potential for great benefits if we get it right, but also great risks if we get it wrong.

Research suggests that MDMA alleviates the suffering of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, psilocybin alleviates the suffering of Major Depressive Disorder as well as alcoholism, ketamine also alleviates the suffering of Major Depressive Disorder, LSD alleviates end-of-life anxiety and depression, ibogaine alleviates the suffering of withdrawal when overcoming substance abuse and that psychedelics in general alleviate psychological distress and suicidality.

All of this research, however, is currently just data points, with no unifying theory to explain it.

Researchers understand that psychedelics can alleviate the suffering associated with several conditions, but they don’t understand why, or how to maximise the benefits of these mysterious substances. The danger is that they will never come to understand, because their science is based on erroneous assumptions about the nature of reality, and these erroneous assumptions prevent them from seeing reality accurately.

The vast majority of researchers in the field of psychology are materialists who believe that the brain generates consciousness, and therefore that all of the contents of consciousness are simply brain states. This is, in fact, the great delusion of psychology as it is currently practiced. The delusion is so prevalent that it’s rare to ever hear a psychologist challenge it. Anyone who does is usually shunned.

This materialist paradigm is assumed without any hesitation or doubt. One consequence is that all psychedelic phenomena are explained in materialist terms. Some researchers define a psychedelic as a high dose of a hallucinogen. Others group psychedelics based on which receptor sites they operate on. Inevitably, the psychedelic experience is explained (but only ever conjecturally) by a change in brain state.

The end result of the assumption that all suffering is caused by chemical imbalances: psychiatry has been reduced to dishing out pharmaceuticals. This is why modern psychiatry is next to useless (although it is true that a great many acutely psychotic people can benefit from being administered a sedative for a while). In this context, psychedelic sacraments have shown great promise, as a medicine that need only be administered once, and with a minimum of physical side-effects.

But in order for them to be properly understood, and therein properly utilised, psychological science will first have to outgrow materialism.

The fact is that psychedelics don’t alleviate suffering by altering brain chemistry or brain structure (at least not primarily). They primarily alleviate suffering by destroying spiritual illusions and delusions. The word ‘psychedelic’ means ‘soul-revealing’, and it’s precisely this quality that enables psychedelics to have their therapeutic effect. They reveal – in Aldous Huxley’s words – the fundamental all-rightness of the Universe.

In Western society, a great deal of suffering has resulted from the adoption of certain false metaphysical beliefs. The three most prominent false spiritual beliefs are: this physical world is all there is; the brain generates consciousness; there’s nothing divine about either this physical world or consciousness. All three of these beliefs are harmful, but the second one is particularly so.

If a person truly believes that the brain generates consciousness, then it inevitably follows that consciousness ends with the death of the brain. Because the death of the brain is inevitable, from there it follows that all experiences and memories of experiences are meaningless, because these are dependent on the brain and will disappear with brain death. Because nothing continues beyond the death of the physical body, there’s no overall purpose or goal to life here. It’s all just one bizarre fluke.

What remains to be commonly accepted is that this attitude leads to colossal amounts of misery, hopelessness and despair – and it’s not even correct.

If a patient comes to a psychiatrist in a state of existential despair induced by the apparent meaninglessness of life, the psychiatrist can do little other than commiserate on a human level (and perhaps dish out some pharmaceuticals). They cannot assure the patient that consciousness survives the death of the physical body and therefore that life actually is meaningful, because the vast majority of the time psychiatrists are materialist atheists. Christianity can’t fill the gap because no-one really believes it.

The uselessness of psychiatry, as it is practiced today, is why so many people take drugs.

Many addictions are fuelled by despair at the apparent meaninglessness of life. To get forced into existence as a mortal creature, doomed to suffer old age and death for no apparent reason, seems like a kind of torture. Many find this torture so excruciating that they decide it’s worth numbing the pain with alcohol or heroin. Others fill the gap with sex, power, social status or any of the other ape instincts that can substitute for a meaningful life.

Pharmaceuticals don’t help here. They can numb and stupify, and they can prevent the extreme agitation that often leads to fatal consequences, but they don’t alleviate any spiritual suffering. They don’t free people from fear of death. They don’t help people find any meaning in life.

Psychedelics liberate people from this spiritual suffering. They blast away the delusion that consciousness is trapped in the brain and doomed to die with the body. They reveal an entirely new world: one of meaning, purpose and fundamental all-rightness. This explains why there is a correlation between feeling mystic experiences on a trip and the therapeutical efficacy of that trip.

In other words, the more a trip helps a person to see beyond, the more suffering that trip will alleviate in that person. This is because so much psychiatric suffering is ultimately caused, not by material causes, but by spiritual illusions and delusions. The therapeutic effects of psychedelics lie primarily in their ability to dispel these illusions and delusions, and not until this is understood can the benefits of psychedelics be fully realised.
